The mind is a small but complicated thing. In addition to being a terrible thing to waste, much of it also remains beyond our comprehension, even though it provides our comprehension. All of those synapses and axons and dendrites and chemical reactions take someone with a thorough understanding of biology--and a little bit more--to help reveal the secrets of the brain and nervous system.
A major in Neurobiology submerges you in the science of the brain. It’s biology with one specific focus, the nervous system. You will go through all of the rigorous training of a biology major, with the added bonus of dedicating yourself to the study of the mind and its control over the body. Perhaps if Descartes had taken a few more science courses, we would have remembered him as the first neurobiologist.
As a Neurobiology major you’ll have excellent preparation for a career in medicine. You will not only get to perform some cutting edge research; you will also have the opportunity to explore one of the most delicate, complicated systems of the body.
