Overview

Alright, so this isn’t the cover of Rolling Stone, but what it lacks in popular content, it more than makes up for in spirituality. Church Music has a very long, and definitely complicated, history. From medieval Europe to the gospel choirs of the south, music has always been a necessary and vital component of faith and religion. Music, as an art, has long been an intense academic discipline, with multifarious genres. Church Music is one of these genres. As a major, it combines the study of music, including composition and performance, with a particular focus on the music heard and performed in churches throughout the world.
