Academics

Degrees with real-world applications are the cornerstone of LeMoyne-Owen College, which have led to its longevity and current standing as the only HBCU in Memphis, Tennessee. In order to graduate career-ready men and women, LeMoyne-Owen offers majors for in-demand careers, from Information Technology and Education to Urban Leadership and Social Justice. For those looking to enhance their chosen fields, minors can be earned in Psychology, Public Health, Economics, and African and African American Studies. Marquee programs like the Center for Cyber Defense provide additional focuses, in this case, mixing computer science with cyber security and criminal justice, and giving students valuable hands-on experience with digital forensic software. LeMoyne-Owen is also in partnership with institutions like the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to continue to expand coursework and provide further career opportunities.

The school honors academic excellence with the W.E.B. Du Bois Scholars Program. Honors students in the program are given unique opportunities such as priority registration for classes each semester, scholarship funding, internship placement, and one-on-one advising. LeMoyne-Owen also has an accelerated studies program for busy adult professionals to achieve a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with studies focused on management and finances. The program is specifically structured for people that work full-time but are looking to enter a new field with the proper certification.
