We offer all the advantages of a large research university: challenging academic programs, notable alumni, state-of-the-art facilities, renowned faculty, extensive opportunities for internships, research and scholarships with all the benefits of a small, supportive and nurturing environment. Our 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio and average class size of 21 students means faculty know more than just your name.

Our accomplished faculty include Fulbright Scholars, prominent researchers, authors, artists, filmmakers, former school superintendents and principals, leaders in nursing, former ambassadors, analysts and lawmakers-all of whom are dedicated to their fields and their students. We have graduates that have pursued further studies at some of the nation's leading institutions, including Seton Hall, Harvard, Columbia, Yale, Princeton and Dartmouth. Each day, our faculty members shine in the lecture halls and on the national stage. We meet regularly with students outside the classroom and help them develop great minds.

Seton Hall offers more than 17,000 internship opportunities, and over 80 percent of our students have an internship or two on their resume before graduation, this is just one of the reasons our students have a 93% employment rate after graduation and mid-career earnings 50% higher than the national average. In fact, Seton Hall was recently ranked top 5 in the nation for providing internship opportunities. Our national reputation and stellar academic programs draw over 550 employers to campus each year just to recruit our graduates. Location

Nestled in the suburban village of South Orange, New Jersey, Seton Hall provides small-town charm combined with big-city opportunities. The University's suburban, 58-acre park-like campus sits proudly within this picturesque town with tree-lined streets; historic, gracious homes; and quaint shops just 14 miles from New York City close to all the action, yet not engulfed by it.

Just a five-minute walk from campus lands you in the middle of a bustling town center where you'll find diners and pizzerias, banks, pharmacies, Starbucks, Cold Stone Creamery, a gourmet marketplace, South Orange Performing Arts Center, a movie theatre, and so much more. You might not ever want to leave this quiet suburbia, but if you do, the train station, right in the center of town, is your direct link to NYC's Penn Station just 30 minutes away.

We take full advantage of all the Big Apple has to offer-where the worlds of entertainment, art, publishing, global finance, international diplomacy and fashion collide. NYC is also one of the world's largest job markets, brimming with internship and job placement opportunities in a variety of companies. Over 80% of Seton Hall students have an internship or two on their resume before graduation at leading companies like Goldman Sachs, American Express, CNN, the Secret Service, Merck, Lincoln Center, The New York Mets, the United Nations, The New York Times, NBC, Prudential, Sony Music, JP Morgan Chase and more.

And if all the advantages and opportunities of the Big Apple aren't enough, New Jersey's got you covered. One of the wealthiest states in the nation, New Jersey is brimming with opportunity. Seton Hall's backyard boasts a powerhouse corporate corridor of more than 50 Fortune 500 companies, pharmaceutical giants and major corporations. For you this means networking, internships and career opportunities.

Campus Facilities & Equipment

Seton Hall places a strong emphasis on the use of state-of-the-art technology, facilities and support services to aid in its students' development. Many investments have been made to the campus infrastructure, including the recent construction of a new academic classroom building, a new medical campus, and a new state of the art recreation and fitness center. In addition the campus boasts a state-of-the-art research library complete with a computerized catalog and 200 computer terminals. The Science and Technology Center, is home to state-of-the-future biology and chemistry labs, an atrium and auditorium, as well as an observatory and greenhouse. The campus also offers many unique learning labs like our Mock Trading Room, Patient Simulation Laboratory, Market Research Center, Sport Polling Center and WSOU, the number 1 ranked college radio station in the nation.

Seton Hall recently opened a new Interprofessional Health Sciences campus, located in Clifton & Nutley, NJ. The IHS campus creates a forward-thinking approach to healthcare education, bringing together future doctors, nurses and health professionals in the fields of medicine, nursing, physical therapy, physician assistant, occupational therapy, athletic training and speech language pathology. This innovative team-based training reflects the future of healthcare delivery; Seton Hall is one of only a few universities using this model. This new approach will vastly improve cooperation and communication among health professionals and greatly strengthen patient care.

What students say:

Seton Hall's "beautiful and clean campus" is "located in a suburban and green environment," just "a 10-minute walk to the train station," making it "super easy to go to New York City." The university "wants to make their students happy by organizing events for us and entertaining us," and the events "are always fun with DJs, free food, and tons of merch or handouts to go around." In addition, many people "are involved in clubs and sports and use that to fill their time," and "enjoy going to the gym, tabling/relaxing on the Green," or simply "hanging out in the University Center that has pool tables, air hockey, and foosball." There are also "various social activities exclusive to Greek life, trips hosted by the Student Activities Board into New York City, as well as club events hosted on campus." With "so many different clubs or organizations that allow each student to find their place on campus," students say, "there is never a dull moment at Seton Hall."

We offer all the advantages of a large research university: challenging academic programs, notable alumni, state-of-the-art facilities, renowned faculty, extensive opportunities for internships, research and scholarships with all the benefits of a small, supportive and nurturing environment.

What students say

Seton Hall University is a Catholic liberal arts college providing its students with "tremendous professional and recreational opportunities ," including "amazing, accelerated programs and certificate programs that are easy to do with any major. They also make it easy to double or even triple major across two or three different colleges." The Honors Program "is very thorough and well-put together," and students enjoy the interactive format of the "colloquium-style classes." The Buccino Leadership Institute "focuses on tangible, group style projects" and experiential learning, and the university offers "lots of opportunities for undergraduate research in the hard sciences." The university is "small enough where you are not lost in the crowd" or feel like just a number. Additionally, there are "very strong support systems for all students to make sure they are successful inside as well as outside of the classroom." One student finds that the school's size and options for specialization "attracts very passionate and dedicated professors and students, which have made my class experiences entertaining, educational, and captivating." Faculty "are all very committed to their work" and "make themselves accessible outside of class and by email easily." Whether they're "agreeing to be project advisors or providing career-oriented help, they're always quick to step in and give students the best experiences they can." Professors make classes interesting and relevant with guest speakers, hosting field "trips relevant to the class, [and] incorporating recent events and news into discussions." Seton Hall graduates have "a very high employment rate," perhaps due in part to the school's "excellent career center" and proximity to New York. Students appreciate the "great connections and job events," as well as "the opportunity to network with Seton Hall alumni [who] are now business professionals."

From The School

On campus, Great minds learn to put their ideas into action; discover something new; become part of a community; and build trust, spirit and lasting friendships. Here, you'll find activities galore, over 130 clubs and organizations and 26 Greek societies. You can audition for one of the nearly dozen theatre performances cast each year or broadcast at the #1 ranked college radio station in the nation, WSOU-FM, which attracts more than 120,000 listeners a week from the NYC area. Join the Brownson Speech and Debate Team, ranked in the Top 20 college and university forensic teams for years or write for one of our three student newspapers. You'll not only make lots of new friends and have fun, you'll also learn about your leadership style. More than two-thirds of our students participate in clubs and organizations.

You don't have to be a superstar athlete to be part of the game at Seton Hall. Our athletic programs include competition on varsity, intramural and club levels. In fact, almost 50 percent of our students participate in club or intramural sports. Even if you don't know a handball from a handoff, you'll be decked out in blue and cheering your heart out when you attend any one of Seton Hall's 14 NCAA division I Big East athletic events. So grab your friends and catch some Pirate fever!

What students say:

Seton Hall students are "high achievers," and this "incredibly driven and career-focused" group tends to "spend the days doing schoolwork in the university center or library between classes and work." The atmosphere on campus is supportive, and students are "generally eager to collaborate and succeed both academically and personally." While this Catholic university has "a great campus ministry community," there "are many other religions practiced on campus." Overall, the student body is "fairly diverse in regard to race" with "a wide range of students all from different backgrounds and identities," as well as "a heavy commuter population." In this "very welcoming community" it's "very easy to build relationships and make connections with people outside your particular field of study," and there are "many opportunities for team building and making friends" for first-years. As one student says, "There's never a time I'm on campus where I don't see a friendly face.
