With elements designed for the original Andrew Mellon estate by the renowned Olmsted Brothers, the Woodland Road location is one of the most beautfiul places in the City of Pittsburgh. Designated a national arboretum, the 39-acre campus features renovated historic mansions now being used as residence halls, a labyrinth, pond, and 125 different varieties of flora. It is located minutes from the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University, the epicenter of a vibrant community with over 70,000 college students.
Chatham Eastside is a 250,000 square foot building located less than a mile from the University’s historic Woodland Road location and just down the road from Bakery Square, home to Google's Pittsburgh office. It houses substantial skills labs and mock-up doctors’ waiting rooms for classes and demonstrations for the physician assistant studies, physical therapy, and occupational therapy programs, as well as a mock-up apartment for working on specific tasks for daily living.
Located in Richland, PA, Chatham’s net-zero Eden Hall Campus (EHC) is a 388-acre living laboratory and home to the Falk School of Sustainability & Environment. It produces more energy than it consumes, relies solely on geothermal energy for heating and cooling, and treats all storm- and wastewater on site.
Off-Campus Opportunities
Chatham’s Shadyside campus is located between the leafy residential and commercial neighborhoods of Squirrel Hill and Shadyside—minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is a vibrant city with one of the lowest costs—and highest standards—of living in the country. According to the website payscale.com, the cost of living in Pittsburgh is about eight percent below the national average.
The Huffington Post has praised Pittsburgh as ""a modern mecca of culture and education, [and] a hidden gem."" According to national polls conducted by such organizations as Forbes and U.S. News and World Report, it is the safest mid-sized city and the most livable city in the country. It is one of the most affordable cities, and it boasts an unemployment rate significantly lower than the national average. With leading industries such as technology, finance, and medicine, as well as a booming arts community, Pittsburgh has a tremendous amount to offer. *
And not only that: in the Pittsburgh region within the next ten years, more than 290,000 Baby Boomers now in the workforce will be eligible to retire, and more than 50,000 new jobs are expected to be created here. **
