Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, California State University, East Bay’s College of Business and Economics offers an “excellent curriculum and professors,” “great location,” as well as flexible schedule for working students. The college also boasts a “very inclusive and diverse culture” without the “cut-throat” mentality found at so many other business schools. Instead, CSUEB encourages a “collaborative/helpful approach to get to the finish line whether that be to survive a tough class or to reach graduation.”
Students say the greatest strength of CSUEB’s College of Business and Economics is “the instructors.” Professors here are “excellent in all areas,” and “really knowledgeable, skillful, and kind.” They “are invested in the learning and growth of their students,” notes one student. The professors “take extra time and give great advice” and “want to facilitate real learning and instill long-lasting knowledge.” Many professors are “established in their fields and careers so they have a very strong knowledge around what they teach.” Because of this they are “able to provide a practical look at things and how what you’re learning in class will help you in the real world.” “It is nice to learn about how things should be,” says one student, “and as a business owner, I strive to push my business objectives using the ideals that I learn in my academic life.” Furthermore, the “professors in the MBA program treat students like colleagues rather than students and that is very much appreciated.” While students gave glowing reviews to their professors overall, some students noted that there were “more male professors than female,” and that they “would love to see/hear about women in business more often.” In fall 2015, the College says it will maintain a 3:2 (male to female) faculty ratio with 39 percent female faculty in the regular faculty body, up 6 percent from fall 2014.
Overall, students say their professors “are easy to access and are generally prompt with email responses.” They are “very helpful and make time for students before and after class.” And students also find the administration “accessible” and “helpful.” One students notes: “The administration has been very accommodating to ensure that I am able to graduate on time by offering additional classes that meet my needs.” CSUEB is a great fit for students looking for a flexible, supportive, and challenging learning environment in a beautiful setting.
