Academics
Established in 1976, the Yale School of Management is a “superbly run” institution that is “a model for the business school platform.” Yale SOM provides resources and opportunities to non-traditional MBA candidates through avenues such as the Silver Scholars program, which admits and matriculates students directly from undergrad, and its numerous centers and initiatives (such as the Center for Customer Insights, the Program on Entrepreneurship, and the Initiative for Leadership and Organization) highlight the innovative thinking this “exceptionally well-positioned” program is known for. Professors are extraordinarily accessible, and students “can tell that they are here at SOM because they have a passion for teaching.” The curriculum is “updated on a regular basis,” and there are opportunities to take classes across the university. Yale SOM’s Global Studies Requirement reinforces the school’s worldly approach to business, and is often fulfilled by an International Experience course that caps off in a ten-day trip to foreign business capitals. The administration is incredibly open and always soliciting feedback: “You can meet with anybody at any level and have an intimate conversation about whatever is on one’s mind.” The “balance of business and society” is apparent in every artifice: “Most activities are rewarding and even casual conversation is thought-provoking.”
