The core values of excellence, leadership, integrity, community, and teamwork factor into every aspect of the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Here, small group activities, case studies, and a “very rigorous” early focus on the standard MBA disciplines lay the foundation for a flexible, global curriculum that sends “incredibly well-prepared” MBAs into the real world. All students participate in practical experiences with real-word consequences, and have the option of more than 125 electives to tailor their degree to their career intentions. “I now know exactly how to go about continuing learning any and all topics related to my post-MBA career,” says a student.
When you spend as much time with “bright and passionate” professors who are experts in their fields as you do at Kenan-Flagler, “the learning curve really takes off,” and outside of the core classes, there are “many industry practitioners [who give] a great balance to the theory.” The faculty does an excellent job of balancing the material “so that it keeps both finance newbies and experts engaged.” The school is noted for its programs in entrepreneurship and healthcare, and while many students say that the administration is “still trying to figure out their big picture goal,” the professors “don’t let it affect them” and “the vast majority of the operations of the school are smooth.”
